NIAR is developing a commercial avionics testing capability and has started the initial planning, research and acquisition of special test equipment that will be necessary to test next generation avionics technologies. This program provides environmental testing capabilities to certify advanced avionics technologies that enable increased payloads, reducing fuel consumption and increasing range of military and commercial aircraft. This project is a collaboration between the DoD, industry and WSU NIAR, to bring together advanced avionics technologies with aircraft platform avionics system integration expertise located in Wichita, Kansas to insure the DoD maintains the capability to environmentally test next generation avionics. The Aerospace Community will use NIAR's advanced technology testing capability, once fully enabled, to create an environment that promotes faster time to market for new practical solutions to technical challenges in military and commercial avionics. |

FHS selected SprayCool (www.spraycool.com) as its initial partner to participate in the Advanced Avionics Test Program sponsored by NAVAIR. SprayCool benefits include: optimized performance density, power efficiency, survivability and life-cycle cost savings, in lighter, smaller, more efficient packages. DO160 Testing is currently underway to fully test and evaluate SprayCool technology in a Commercial Aircraft environment.
Boeing has selected FHS and NIAR to test and analyze SprayCool Technology for needs on aging military aircraft, which in many cases have run out of thermal headroom and could use the benefits of SprayCool Technology.
